A qualitative study of the characteristics of a traumatized city from the perspective of citizens (case study: Tabriz city)

Abstract

Introduction: With the beginning of the urbanization process in the world, developed countries turned the city and urbanism into a dynamic and balanced phenomenon, considering the quality level of people's lives, but in developing countries, due to wrong and defective structures and inefficiency. Institutionally and structurally, urbanization and urbanism has become an abnormal phenomenon and has caused numerous urban problems and damages. This abnormality and the exponential growth of the problems have made the situation of the cities of such societies a traumatic situation.

Method: In the current research, in order to reach the goal of understanding how citizens perceive and imagine the traumatized city, a qualitative method of the grounded theory type has been used. The data were collected using the purposeful sampling method and the semi-structured interview technique from 30 citizens of Tabriz city in 1402 and were analyzed by the coding method.

Findings: The findings showed that the activists described the traumatized city as an ugly city with malignant tumors, a city with traumatic and unsafe squares, a city full of damage, a city with managers who do not care about urban people and their needs, and finally a city They are familiar with the crisis of all kinds of pollution.

Results: The results showed that life in such a city is full of anxiety and mental disturbances.

The traumatized city is the terminal of pollution, the urban man in this terminal of pollution, his eyes and ears are blind and deaf, the breath of the city has been cut off.
