Abstract
In societies where religious diversity is there, living peacefully just in the shadow of religious tolerance and the recognition of all religions, may. Lack of religious tolerance has consequences such as religious violence. Also, religious tolerance leaves a significant effect on the political attitude of individuals. The research question has two parts: Shiite religious tolerance than the country’s official religion is at what level? What factors are affecting the religious tolerance?. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the religious tolerance and its effective factors among students at Ferdowsi University who conducted the survey. According to the theoretical background, social capital, education, gender and age variables as factors affecting religious tolerance were selected. The results show that the Shiite religious tolerance than other religions is not desirable. Also, hypothesis tests show that intra-group and out-group social capital have negative and positive impact on religious tolerance, respectively. In addition to, education and gender have a positive impact and age has a negative impact on religious tolerance. The positive influence of religious tolerance on political tolerance has been confirmed
