Those judgments, which were mostly negative, gradually constituted an explanatory matrix, so that, in explaining many bad circumstances among many Iranian people, it has been said that they derived from Iranian temperament or Iran’s culture. About how valid are observational propositions such as “Iranians have this or that quality”, and explanatory propositions such as “this or that quality or behavior is the effect of this or that temperament” there are some critical discussions, especially concerning inexactness of some generalizations as well as some probable dangers of the acceptance of such judgments. This paper is to criticize this kind of propositions from an analytical point of view. It will demonstrate that the difficulty of explaining the cause of these qualities among Iranians suggests that the main problem is not in proving the prevalence of these traits among Iranians, but in proving its absence among non-Iranians. The hypothesis is that most of the cases known as Iranians temperaments, to the extent that they are approved as Iranians temperaments, are not because of Iranian culture but its level. This level of culture is not something special to Iranians, but it can be found among many nations, and everywhere it introduces almost the same temperament از گذشته تاکنون، برخی خارجی‌ها و ایرانی‌ها بر پایة مشاهدات خود درمورد خلق‌وخو و منش ایرانی سخن گفته‌اند. این برآوردها که معمولاً بار منفی داشته، به‌تدریج به ماتریس تبیینی تبدیل شده است؛ به این صورت که گفته می‌شود بسیاری از کردارهای مشاهده‌شده در میان ایرانیان ناشی از خلقیات یا فرهنگ ایرانی است. درمورد میزان اعتبار گزاره‌های مشاهدتی از قبیل «ایرانی دارای فلان خصلت است»، و گزاره‌های تبیینی مانند اینکه «دلیل فلان وضعیت ایران فلان خصلت ایرانی است»، بحث‌هایی صورت گرفته است. به‌ویژه دربارة دقیق‌نبودن برخی از این تعمیم‌ها و احتمالاً خسارت‌‌داشتن پذیرش عام آن‌ها اظهارنظرهایی صورت گرفته است. مقالة حاضر به نقد منطقی-تحلیلی این نوع گزاره‌ها می‌پردازد. براساس این پژوهش، دشواری این امر که چرا و به چه دلیل ایرانی این اوصاف را دارد، حاکی از این است که مشکل اصلی در اثبات شیوع این اوصاف در میان ایرانیان نیست، بلکه معضل اصلی اثبات نبود آن در میان غیرایرانی‌ها است. در فرضیة مقالة حاضر بیان می‌شود بیشتر مواردی که به خلقیات ایرانی مشهور است، در حدودی که صحت داشته باشد، به‌دلیل مفاد فرهنگ ایرانی نیست، بلکه منظور سطح فرهنگ ایران است. این سطح فرهنگ، چه در گذشته و چه حال و به‌رغم تحولات، اختصاصی به ایران نداشته است و در هر زمان بسیاری ملل دیگر با سطح فرهنگی معادل همراه بوده‌اند و همان عوارض رفتاری را داشته‌اند. https://jisr.ut.ac.ir/article_71971_e77dc2e0072df3f4330cd1c0f1d9718c.pdf
