Elite migration is one of the most important issues discussed in this article. Our emphasis in this article is on student immigration from university to the hawza. The goal is to identify the motivations of these individuals and achieving a pattern of their motives. We conducted a qualitative research. We obtained samples of snowball sampling in Tehran and Qom, then We interviewed 23 with episodic interviews. We arrived to a triple typology of their motives. The main core of this is that these students make such choices with three different religious approaches, which are themselves linked to the instrumental motive of profit-centeredness. The first type select the hawza to protect of the traditional forms of religiosity against the replaceable elements in current society. We gave them the title of “religious protector”. The aim of second type is to create a peaceful link between religion and contemporary society's issues. We gave them the title of “religious messenger” . And finally The third type sees religion as a safe haven, Which can be useful to him in achieving social excellence, security, and socio-political benefits. We called them “security seeker”. In the final conclusion, the relationship between these three categories is explained. مسئلة اصلی مقالة حاضر به مهاجرت علمی از دانشگاه به حوزة علمیه و شناخت انگیزه‌های این مهاجرت مربوط است که معمولاً در سویة مخالف از حوزه‌ها به دانشگاه‌ها رایج است. به‌منظور پاسخ‌گویی به این مسئله، با استفاده از مصاحبه‌های عمیق اپیزودیک با ۲۳ نفر از مهاجران از دانشگاه به حوزه، همچنین مشاهده‌های میدانی در حوزه‌های علمیة قم و تهران، درنهایت به سنخ‌بندی سه‌گانه‌ای از انگیزه‌های ایشان رسیدیم. هستة اصلی این بود که این دانشجویان با سه رویکرد متفاوت دینی که خود با خرد ابزاری منفعت‌محور نیز پیوند دارد، دست به چنین انتخابی می‌زنند. نمونه‌های متعلق به سنخ نخست با عنوان «محافظان دین» می‌خواهند از صورت‌های سنتی دین‌داری در مقابل عناصر تغییربخش فعلی در جامعه محافظت کنند. دومین سنخ با عنوان «پیام‌آوران دین» طلاب هستند که قصد دارند پیوند مسالمت‌آمیزی میان دین و مسائل جامعة امروزی فراهم کنند. درنهایت نمونه‌های متعلق به سنخ سوم با عنوان «امنیت‌طلبان»، دین را پناهگاه امنی می‌دانند که در رسیدن به تعالی اجتماعی، امنیت خاطر و مزایای اجتماعی سیاسی برای آن‌ها مفید است. در پایان تلاش شده است ضمن تحلیل انگیزه‌ها از خلال سه سنخ، به تبیینی از روابط میان آن‌ها نیز دست ‌یابیم. https://jisr.ut.ac.ir/article_65248_7e2279e379fb7bc6b468c1e7846fdea4.pdf
