The concept of communication apprehension and emotional intelligence has been indicated as two concepts which are new in the field of psychology, communication and organizational behavior. This article has tried to study the relationship between communication apprehension levels and emotional intelligence between the staff of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting. The population of the study includes all of the employees worked in IRIB in Tehran and the sample size has been 378 people. In this research the combination of two questionnaires have been used; including emotional intelligence produced by Daniel Golman as well as the communication apprehension one made by James McCroskey. Based on the results, all the components of emotional intelligence have a significant relation with the levels of communication apprehension; however, this relationship is reversed. So that whenever components of emotional intelligence increase, the levels of communication apprehension among the staff of IRIB will decrease.

In the process of modernization, traditional dress is usually the first issue which changes in traditional societies. Undoubtedly, western societies, benefiting from their worldwide cultural industry, are leading the globe to a great uniformity which peoples’ dress is one of its apparent out comes. Today, in our society emergence of west culture through the process of globalization on one hand, and women’s participation in public affairs on the other, has made the dress as one of the challenging and problematic problems. Meanwhile, in Iran women’s dress is a cultural, religious, ideological and discursive issue. In this article we are looking at national dress, particularly women’s dress, from discourse point of view. Looking at dress in the frame of different discourses and trying to understand its discursive feature, enables us to enlighten one of the dimensions of this critical subject. On the basis of especial goals and values, discourse, enables one to introduce herself to the others on the basis of her own choice. In this article reviewing dress in three historical eras, we will particularly deal with the influence of western culture in Iran. In this period there is a confrontation between religious discourse, insisting on Hejab, and liberal discourse, persisting on liberation of dress. Although religious discourse is dominant, but educational centers should enhance Islamic Hejab asserting on “modesty” rather than an especial kind of it.

This study explores identity elements of Tehran province in travel writings with concentration on symbols in urban planning and architecture. On one hand, symbolic representation of a city plays a crucial role in identity making and on the other hand special provinces and cities like Tehran are important in echoing contemporary Iranian national identity and are highly closed to today’s Iran. In this perspective, representation of Iran in travel writings somehow reflects hopes and disappointments of urban identity. Our perspective in this article is to concentrate on elements of urban identity as is described in the travel writings. Therefore, based on analyzing 24 travel writings by either domestic or international travel writers with a content analysis method, we studied representation of elements and symbols of identity making in Tehran province. The categories of elements as well as symbols of identity include basic buildings, urban planning and related policies, cultural symbols, urban media and urban furniture. Findings show that representation of Tehran in travel writings has been shaped by dualities of the East against the West, uptown against downtown, or Tehran against other cities of the province or other cities of the country or even against the world.

Dada Gorgood stories can be considered as parts of cultural history of the great tribes, Turks (Oghooz). These stories generally reflects the social situation of society in which as the result of tradition dominance on social affairs, it is located among the Primitive societies with mechanical solidarity and in other words, among the communities with the natural will Government. Dada Gorgood stories include some meanings and concepts which can be used as part of the same universal cultural circles. Sociological study of Dada Gorgood stories in this book not only shows the type of social institutions in Oghooz tribes but also makes us familiar with social- historical roots of though structures (believes, values and common and uncommon behaviors) of Turks as a part of human society in the world. In this paper, along with being familiar with social structure of Oghooz tribes in comparison with cultural and dynamic or static situation , the relative view about the relative relations and dominance of old democracy, ethnocentrism, and other social phenomena in Oghooz tribes has been studied.

The present paper aims to study the Iranian-made movie “Aroos-e-Atash” (The Bride of Fire), using semiotic methodology at the three following levels: description (social codes), representation (technical codes) and ideology (ideological codes). The process of interconnections and interactions between these three types of codes resulted in these findings: although the movie enjoys an emancipation dimension and tries to challenge an inhumane tradition (violation of women rights), it totally ignores cultural considerations and adopts a modernist approach (populist, intellectualistic, individualistic, etc.) to review tribal traditions and customs. The film attempts to employ various signs at the three abovementioned levels to place the average urban culture in contrast with tribal culture and judge the tribe’s customs and traditions without considering tribal cultural-social attributes. Such a judgment is far from leading to understanding of cultural differences, but rather would bring about the “marginalization” of the “other”.

The virtual space of Internet social networks is one of the most important devices to exert the influence of globalization. This virtual space creates a vast quantity of information and meaning representations. Faced with this space and the profusion of sources, people experience suspension (i.e. confusion and indecision) in shaping their identity. The loss of the concepts of time and place and the greater role of space is evident in the virtual world. Faced with this second space, people feel their bases of identity are shaky, and hence experience doubt and anxiety. Although virtual social networks could have positive and negative effects on the process of communication, the present study focuses merely on their crisis-creating aspects and considers creating national and religious crisis as one of the impacts of social networks in societies, especially those experiencing a transition stage.
The findings show that, on the basis of a classification of generations, the third generation has been the greatest user of the cyberspace in Iran and has been exposed to the influences of social networks more than other generations. The cyberspace has created a kind of identity crisis among a great number of youths. This crisis has led to heterogeneity of identity and has influenced social balance. Besides, virtual social networks have made fundamental changes in identity-building institutions and have changed meaning-creating identity factors.
